TMT Science and Instrumentation Workshop
IRMS mini meeting
Richard Dekany, Keith Matthews, Luc Simard, Glen Herriot, Rick Murowinski,
David Crampton, Brent Ellerbroek, Bahram Mobasher, and Tokoku
- Start preparing for the OCDD (Operational Concept Definition Document).
- MOSFIRE will be shipped to Hawaii around 4/9/2011. FL is targeted around June.
- About modification or redesign from MOSFIRE to IRMS. ″Near″ clone of MOSFIRE.
- Study has started since 2007.
- Interface to the instrument rotator.
- Buffle thermal redesign.
- Configuration of the guider probe near focal plane.
- Thermal treatment of the window.
- Focal plane distortion.
- Scalloping effect?
- Flexure correction system with the instrument hanging downward.
- Flexure control of the grism turret. (Grisms are heavy.)
- Slit transmission.
- Investigate the curvature of the focal plane and slit position.
- Bibration measurement. (CTI 150 single-stage is used in MOSFIRE).
- Nick Konidaris will work on the optical redesign.
- Procurement of window material. CaF2? 1640?
- Need lamp for wavelength calibration? K-band.
- Noise trade off with what? (I can't be heard.)
- Performance at the four corners of 2′ x 2′ FOV.
- Narrow-band filter (in J-band) study by Betsy Barton?
- Modification for IRMS (by Luc, excerpt)

TMT Science Performance Meeting
Matthias Schoeck +15 people.
- Measure for the NSF proposal.
- The Decadal Survey -> TMT science case mapping.
- AO simulation update.
- Not only comparing with Keck or Gemini, be focused on the TMT's distinctive capabilities.
- Detailed discussion on the observing method (calibration etc...).

TMT Astrometry Workshop
Jessica Lu, Andrea Ghez, Jerry Nelson +30 people.
- Science with the astrometric accuracy of 1 μarcsec.
- Ryuji's memo .
2/8/2011 at TMT
AO Modeling Meeting
Brent Ellerbroek +10 people.
- Met NFIRAOS group people.
- Can't catch up with the abbreviations for NFIRAOS...
- Simulation for wide-field mode in case of 20 and 50 % of seeing are not yet done.
# At Mauna Kea, 25% and 50 % of seeing means roughly 0.7″ and 0.9″, respectively.
- Luc Gilles is working on the simulations.
- NFIRAOS team want to know IRMS's policy about the OIWFS, fore-optics design,
required astrometry, and many other things. We have to work together.
2/3-4/2011 at Victoria (via videoconference from UCR)
NFIRAOS Interim Review
- Agenda
- Previous review was held on June 2010.

MOSFIRE visit
Nick Konidaris, Ryuji Suzuki
- Just after 9th cryogenic test. The dewar was opened.
- CSU under repair by the SCEM engineers.
- Pinhole mask was used in the test.
- Optical performance under cryo-environment goes as designed.
- Detector noise. Striped pattern but uncountable.
- Next thermal cycle will be a final.
- Will be shiped to Hawaii by the end of the year.
- CSEM people feel like trying to make another CSU for IRMS.
- Pictures.
